There were some tired agents at Mission headquarters yesterday. Thank you for making this week fun and helping our special agents uncover evidence about Jesus. There were some decisions made, conversations happening at home, and seeds have been planted. That is why we all sign up for this mission each year, and God is using you. You may never know what impact you have had on the lives of the children in your class, but the evidence that has been shared, and conversations that have taken place, will continue to grow in the hearts of our agents that were on the mission with us this week. </div>

This year we went through the six steps to prepare for VBS and each one is so valuable to ensuring that your time and the children's experience is the best that we can give God.<br />
<br />
<b>Six Steps to Preparing for VBS:</b><br />
<b><br /></b>
<br />
<ol>
<li><b>Prepare your heart!</b> Don't forget to prepare your heart so that you can teach from the overflow. Remember to read the teacher devotionals each day and spend time in prayer for your class and individual students. Be expectant of what God is going to do during and after vacation Bible school. </li>
<li><b>Get the Basic Facts. </b>Look at the schedule, teaching time frames, supply lists and important dates. </li>
<li><b>Plan. </b>Understand the Bible content. Spend some time carefully reading each day's Bible story to familiarize yourself with it. Learn the Bible verse for the week and the key points for each day. Listen to the CD with the songs and practice the hand motions. None of this takes up too much time, but is vital to ensuring you are ready to teach. </li>
<li><b>Gather & Prepare.</b> Decide what activities you will do. Make your supply lists and purchase anything that you will be reimbursed for. Assemble a paper grocery bag for each day that has all the materials you will need to make it easier to have things on hand when you need them. </li>
<li><b>Teach. </b>Use everything that you have been working so hard on and teach the children about Jesus! Remember that children learn in four ways: spiritually, socially & emotionally, mentally, and physically. Try to appeal to several of these ways each day. </li>
<li><b>Continue the Connection. </b>Follow up with your kids! A simple phone call or postcard can mean the world to a child and make them feel so special. Volunteer for a Wednesday night childcare slot to continue the VBS experience. Consider sending home a piece of your decorations (a piece of a banner, a poster, etc) with each child to hang in their room to remind them of VBS. </li>
</ol>
<div>
And the most important things to remember:</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<ul>
<li><b>BUILD RELATIONSHIPS</b></li>
<li><b>BE FLEXIBLE</b></li>
<li><b>ADJUST YOUR PLANS TO FIT THE NEEDS OF THE CHILDREN</b></li>
<li><b>HELP THEM REMEMBER FACTS ABOUT JESUS!</b></li>
</ul>
<div>
<b><br /></b></div>
<div>
<b><br /></b></div>

A-aware<br />
<ul>
<li>Be aware of those around us that do not have a personal relationship with Christ.</li>
<li>View those in our churches and community who are hurting, lost, sad, and in need of Christ through His perspective and become aware of their lost souls.</li>
</ul>
G-give<br />
<ul>
<li>Offer VBS as a reason to intentionally invite lost people to your church</li>
<li>Give people a bridge to the spiritual orphans in your community.</li>
<li>Give people an opportunity to clearly present the gospel</li>
<li>Give people an opportunity to respond to Christ in a public way.</li>
</ul>
E-enable<br />
<ul>
<li>Enable your church to work together towards the Great Commission.</li>
<li>Enable VBS directors, leaders, parents, and staff to share the love of Christ with kids and their families.</li>
</ul>
N-navigate<br />
<ul>
<li>Being evangelistic navigates an entry point for unchurched people.</li>
<li>Attract people to your church with programs like VBS for their kids. Then you can help them navigate the gospel and how it connects to their lives.</li>
<li>Remember the gospel makes VBS relevant. Without the gospel, it is just fun and games.</li>
</ul>
C-connect<br />
<ul>
<li>Connect with families. The initial follow-up contact should be the discovery of the family network.</li>
<li>Pass information discovered on to the follow-up team and to age group classes.</li>
<li>Invite each member of the family to the appropriate Bible study class and other ministry opportunities.</li>
<li>Plan to have multiple contacts with the family over the following months.</li>
</ul>
Y-yield<br />
<ul>
<li>Yield and surrender your heart to God's plan</li>
<li>Use bold, creative strategies to teach people about Christ.</li>
</ul>
D3<br />
<ul>
<li>Display-display the gospel. Be people who are evangelistic.</li>
<li>Demonstrate-demonstrate a life that follows Christ. Do things that bring Him glory.</li>
<li>Declare-declare the gospel. Tell people about Christ.</li>
</ul>
There are an estimated 313 million people living in the US. 98 million of those have accepted Jesus as their Savior. 43% of those accepted Jesus before reaching the age of 13. According to George Barna, evangelism is most effective among kids. Where is your heart? </div>

Admit, Believe, and Confess.<br />
They learned songs and about Paul as he faced his fears. <br />
They also learned how to face their fears. It was a wonderful ride, and we thank all of the wonderful volunteers who made this VBS possible.<br />
<br />
We look forward to next year, as we Discover, Decide and Defend with Agency D3. <br />

<div _mce_style="margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; color: #0039a1;" style="color: #0039a1; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
Lifeway VBS curriculum has ideas about how to set your schedule and plan your activities so that there are <b>engaging activities going on during arrival time.</b> </div>
<div _mce_style="margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; color: #0039a1;" style="color: #0039a1; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
<br /></div>
<div _mce_style="margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; color: #0039a1;" style="color: #0039a1; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
- This is especially helpful on the first day. </div>
<div _mce_style="margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; color: #0039a1;" style="color: #0039a1; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
-
If the room is engaging, fun and well controlled, then parents will
feel better about leaving their student, and students will want to come
in because other kids are having fun. </div>
<div _mce_style="margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; color: #0039a1;" style="color: #0039a1; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
<i><span _mce_style="color: #ff0000; text-decoration: underline;" style="color: red; text-decoration: underline;"><b>Note</b></span>
As you plan, remember that at least one teacher will be in the hall
checking students in, putting on name tags and handing out security
tags.</i> </div>
</div>
<ul>
<li _mce_style="color: #0039a1;" style="color: #0039a1;">Have a group activity planned <i>(based on curriculum ideas)</i> that students will join in as they come in. </li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li _mce_style="color: #0039a1;" style="color: #0039a1;">Plan icebreaker activity when the majority of the kids are there, or icebreakers that the kids can join in as they enter-<a _mce_href="http://ministry-to-children.com/bible-memorize-games/" _mce_style="color: #3366ff; text-decoration: underline;" href="http://ministry-to-children.com/bible-memorize-games/" style="color: rgb(51, 102, 255) ! important; text-decoration: underline ! important;" target="_blank"> Some ideas</a> </li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li _mce_style="color: #0039a1;" style="color: #0039a1;">Have stations
(or centers) set up so that as students come in they select a center to
go do and work on a craft, a puzzle, a game, ... There are many
different ideas listed in the VBS curriculum. </li>
</ul>
<span _mce_style="color: #0039a1;" style="color: #0039a1;">There are
more Activities in the VBS curriculum then can possibly be done in the
time period, so finding enough activities should not be hard. It just
required planning ahead and making it fun</span>.
<br />
<div _mce_style="margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;" style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
<b><i><a _mce_href="http://www.sundayschoolnetwork.com/games_icebreakers.html" _mce_shape="rect" _mce_style="color: blue; text-decoration: underline;" href="http://www.sundayschoolnetwork.com/games_icebreakers.html" shape="rect" style="color: blue ! important; text-decoration: underline ! important;" target="_blank">Click for more "arrival" or "Icebreaker" ideas</a></i> </b></div>
<div _mce_style="margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;" style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
<br /></div>
<div>
<span _mce_style="color: #800000; font-family: Verdana,Geneva,Arial,Helvetica,Sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;" style="color: maroon; font-family: Verdana,Geneva,Arial,Helvetica,Sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;"><b>

<span _mce_style="color: #800000; font-family: Verdana,Geneva,Arial,Helvetica,Sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;" style="color: maroon; font-family: Verdana,Geneva,Arial,Helvetica,Sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;"><b>
</b></span>
<br />
<div _mce_style="color: #0039a1;" style="color: #0039a1;">
<br />
<img _mce_src="https://ui.constantcontact.com/rnavmap/tip/dispatcher?origImg=http://cdn.www.ministry-to-children.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/preschool-games.jpg" align="left" border="0" height="210" hspace="5" src="https://ui.constantcontact.com/rnavmap/tip/dispatcher?origImg=http://cdn.www.ministry-to-children.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/preschool-games.jpg" vspace="5" width="115" /></div>
<div _mce_style="color: #0039a1;" style="color: #0039a1;">
<span _mce_style="color: #0039a1;" style="color: #0039a1;"> Dismissal time. ca</span><span _mce_style="color: #0039a1;" style="color: #0039a1;">n lead to confusion as parents are picking up, students are gathering their items, and excited to see their parents. <br />
</span><br />
<div _mce_style="color: #0039a1;" style="color: #0039a1;">
</div>
<span _mce_style="color: #0039a1;" style="color: #0039a1;">
<b>You want the students to be engaged,</b> not just sitting there waiting, but you <b>don't want </b></span><b>chaos</b> while parents are arriving to get their children</div>
<div _mce_style="color: #0039a1;" style="color: #0039a1;">
Again, if you have a plan in place, it will all go smoothly. <b><span _mce_style="color: #ff0000;" style="color: red;">Note</span>: </b>As
you plan, remember that the same teacher that issued security cards,
need to be the one checking security cards and Drivers licenses during
pick up. </div>

<ul>
<li>four ¾ inch PVC (18-inch lengths),</li>
<li>four ¾- inch PVC end caps,</li>
<li>round outdoor ¾ -inch PVC electrical junction box,</li>
<li>1 ¼ -inch by 3 foot wooden dowel,</li>
<li>nails or drywall screws,</li>
<li>PVC glue, plywood scrap,</li>
<li>patio umbrella stand, or mic stand for base,</li>
<li>spray paint primer for plastic,</li>
<li>chrome metallic spray paint for plastic.</li>
</ul>
To make the turnstile, first paint all the pieces with the primer
then the finish paint once the primer has dried. Next, attach the four
smaller lengths of PVC pipe into the electrical junction box as arms of
the turnstile. Use PVC glue to secure the arms and add the caps to the
end of each pipe. Finally, attach 1 ¼-inch dowel rod to the base. Remove
the cap of the electrical junction box. Place the box on the top of
the dowel with the open side up. Attach the box to the dowel through
the center with a nail or screw. Be sure nails or screws are not too
tight so the box will turn on top of the dowel. Replace the cap of the
junction box. *Note- A two inch PVC pipe can be glued to the bottom of
the junction box. When dry, slide the pipe over a mic stand<br />
pole.<br />

two lines running parallel as the truck. There is a pattern on the
CDROM. Begin with double thickness cardboard sheets (4 x 8 feet). Draw
the tree on butcher paper to make a pattern then transfer that to the
cardboard so all your trees will match. You should be able to get two
trees per sheet by turning one upside down. Cut the trees from the
cardboard with a sharp utility knife and paint the foliage area with a
medium green color spray paint. Now draw three or four puffy clouds on a
piece of poster board and cut out to become stencils. Each stencil
should be the size of roughly a quarter of the poster board. Lay the
stencils on the dry green paint and spray paint a dark green around
each. Move them down and around continuing to spray until the foliage
area is covered. After that dries, repeat the process with the light
green spray paint. The effect is different and fun. The truck can be
left as brown cardboard with a dark brown spray paint down the edges and
some vertical lines here and there on the face of the truck. All the
trees can be painted this way on both sides so when they are hung from
the ceiling with fishing line and hooks or open paper clips, they might
turn and show both sides. Place these trees on both sides of the main
gate entrance to help fill the stage if needed.<br />
<a href="http://mrmarksclassroom.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/10/files/2013/01/MG-4.png"><img alt="" class="wp-image-1690 alignleft" height="270" src="http://mrmarksclassroom.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/10/files/2013/01/MG-4-131x300.png" title="MG 4" width="122" /></a><a href="http://mrmarksclassroom.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/10/files/2013/01/MG-5.png"><img alt="" class="wp-image-1691 alignleft" height="284" src="http://mrmarksclassroom.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/10/files/2013/01/MG-5-224x300.png" title="MG 5" width="196" /></a><a href="http://mrmarksclassroom.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/10/files/2013/01/MG-6.png"><img alt="" class="wp-image-1692 alignleft" height="248" src="http://mrmarksclassroom.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/10/files/2013/01/MG-6-185x300.png" title="MG 6" width="159" /></a><br />
<br />
<br />
<strong>Other Items</strong>- If you want a fence to go on each side
of the gate, cut stripes of white foam core about two inches wide.
Attach the stripes vertically on microphone stands or toilet plungers.
Attach a couple of horizontal stripes at the boards running from post to
post. Add silk flowers and green turf carpet if wanted. String flags
on each side will add to the celebration as well.<br />

inside the gate. Often you find people ready to snap your picture for
purchase at the end of the day. Here is a suggestion for creating the
fountain. If pictures are a possibility, ask the photographer to wear a
red and white striped vest and flat straw hat. Logo name tags as park
employees could be fun too.<a href="http://mrmarksclassroom.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/10/files/2013/01/MG-2.png"><img alt="" class="alignright wp-image-1688" height="335" src="http://mrmarksclassroom.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/10/files/2013/01/MG-2-160x300.png" title="MG 2" width="203" /></a><br />
Items Needed:
<br />
<ul>
<li>Empty large coffee can,</li>
<li>2 inch PVC pipe six foot long,</li>
<li>sand or rocks,</li>
<li>umbrella with removable handle,</li>
<li>box of straight pins,</li>
<li>two blue foil curtains,</li>
<li>one iridescent foil curtain,</li>
<li>blue child’s size pool,</li>
<li>blue and clear sheets of tissue paper,</li>
<li>aluminum foil,</li>
<li>VBS logo (large) from the bulletin board set.</li>
</ul>
Assemble the fountain by placing the PVC pipe into the coffee can and
fill with sand or rocks to stabilize the pipe. Wrap the pipe with
aluminum foil and tape it into place. Place the pole into the child
size pool. Open the umbrella and remove the hook handle so the shaft
will fit inside the pipe. Attach the blue foil curtains to the top of
the umbrella with straight pins round the center point on the very top.
This should allow the foil to cascade off the umbrella all around. Add
the iridescent foil curtain as well. *Note- It will be easier to work
on the umbrella if it is held up with two tall chairs then put in
place. Secure the VBS logo piece to the top of the umbrella. If there
is not a long enough point on the umbrella, cut a small slit in the
fabric to attach a dowel rod or ruler to the shaft and then to the
logo. Place the umbrella shaft inside the pipe so the foil curtain can
hang off like water falling into the pool. Use some scissors to cut the
foil curtain at different lengths. Let the blue be shorter in some
place the iridescent hang lower for a watery effect. Tissue paper can
be added to the bottom of the pool if desired. *Idea option- Make two
fountains for collecting offering for VBS. Boy’s fountain and girl’s
fountain. Place the signs on the pipe under the curtain to designate
fountains.<br />

his Bible study class will appear to be the
place where children will enter and exit the roller coaster. It could
be great fun to make children wait in cue (switchback line) before
entering the classroom or just inside the classroom. Simply use
microphone stands with wide ribbon taped to the pole to create the line
markers. If that is not available use blue painter’s tape in the floor
and instruct the kids to stay in line. Hang signs that say, “Wait is
only 45 minutes from this point” and “Line jumping is not permitted.”
If the line is outside the door, only allow a few at a time to enter,
close the door and yell and cheer together to build anticipation before
the next group is allow inside. Decorations add excitement to the
classroom but how children enter and participate will build an energy
and momentum for a great experience. Teachers can try to dress alike
with matching vests and hats.
<br />
<strong>Roller Coaster</strong>- This is made from boxes and
children’s chairs. Line up four sets of chairs in pairs (side by side)
with enough space for a child’s knees between rows. Each row will need
to have a panel of cardboard the width of the seat and the height of the
chair you have chosen. It is easier to have a flap of cardboard folded
under the chair with the chair leg sitting on it. Secure the cardboard
to the side of the chair with tape. *Note- Choose a tape that will not
damage the chair of leave a sticky mess to be cleaned off when VBS is
finished. Cut enough panels for both side of the roller coaster cars
(rows of cars). The roller coaster will also need a front car hood and
rear car bumper. The rear car bumper is easy. Simply use a box the
same width of the last row of chairs to sit on the ground. The <a href="http://mrmarksclassroom.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/10/files/2013/01/CA-2.jpg"><img alt="" class=" wp-image-1656 alignright" height="180" src="http://mrmarksclassroom.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/10/files/2013/01/CA-2-150x150.jpg" title="CA 2" width="202" /></a>Bumper
box should not be higher than the back of the chair. Add reflectors or
lights as desired. The hood of the car can be a regular square box the
width of the chairs and tall enough for a child’s knees to fit inside.
If you desire a more modern or slick look, follow these instructions
for creating the hood. First, determine the front of the hood and the
back of the hood where the child’s knees go. On the front edge, locate
and mark the center of the box. Using a yard stick or straight edge,
draw a line from each back corner to the center mark. You should have a
triangle. Cut along these two lines only halfway deep so the cardboard
will bend over. Try to avoid cutting all the way through the
cardboard. Bend the flap over to cause the hood to slope down. Now
trace along the bottom of the flap on the cardboard it is resting on.
Cut these lines and remove the cardboard material completely. Choose a
duct tape color that matches the color you intend to paint the roller
coaster. Tape each seam to give it strength. If you have areas that
need more cardboard material to fill in, simply tape the cardboard in
place. Add any embellishments with cardboard now before you paint.
Remove all the pieces from the chairs and paint with water base latex or
enamel paint making sure there is solid coverage of paint. Dry
completely. Assemble the body pieces on the chairs again. This is a
great opportunity to embellish the body of the roller coaster with
colorful duct tape stripes that match the seat covers. Add tap lights,
reflectors and decals to make it as exciting as you want. Use black
dessert size plates from the party store to be wheels. Choose two
plates to be in the front car and two plates on each panel and the
bumper portion. Glue them in place. A final touch is to cover the top
edges of the card board panels and front car where your knees go. Cut
some black pipe insulation to fit on the edge. You might prefer to
split one side of a swim noodle so the colors will match what you have
chosen to use.<br />
<strong>Roller coaster seats</strong>- These instructions are written
to fit an older preschool or younger child size chair but will be
applicable for most chairs. The chairs are already in place for adding
the cardboard panels and hood of the coaster. Now add the high back to
the top <a href="http://mrmarksclassroom.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/10/files/2013/01/CA-3.jpg"><img alt="" class=" wp-image-1657 alignleft" height="194" src="http://mrmarksclassroom.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/10/files/2013/01/CA-3-150x150.jpg" title="CA 3" width="210" /></a>of
the chair. Foam cushions for pillows and other crafts are available at
craft stores and discount store. Purchase one round foam cushion for
each pair of chairs and cut in half with scissors. If circle cushions
are not available, buy square cushions divide in half and trim off the
two corners to give the same shape. When a half-moon shape is cut for
each chair, use tape to secure it to the top of the chair. Next, cover
the back of the chair with a pillowcase. *Note- Choose pillowcases in a
king size and all the same color. This will allow the roller coaster
to have a uniform look, tall seat backs, and the length of the
pillowcase will also cover the seat. Other pillowcase sizes are fine if
you don’t want the seat covered. On the top of the seat, poke the
corners of the pillowcase inside itself so it is a rounded look. You
can glue the corners closed if you desire. If your pillowcases are a
light color, consider using the Coaster Alley clipart from the CDROM and
print it on transfer paper (iron-on) purchased from most office supply
stores. This is an easy way to put the name of this roller coaster on
the seat back of each coaster seat (pillowcase).<br />
<strong>Seat Belts</strong>- Every roller coaster must have seat
belts for your safety. Use nylon strap material purchased in most
discount stores in the automotive section. These have hooks and rackets
and that can be easily cut off so the straps can be used. These straps
come in multiple sizes, widths and colors. You should not have trouble
finding one that fits your needs. The seat belts are made by wrapping
it under the chair and back up into the seat. Just a strip of tape
under the chair will hold it in place. If children are not sitting in
the chairs, you can use empty sardine cans as the buckles by hot gluing
the ends of the strap inside the can with the bottom of the can facing
up as the front of the buckle. Tape a VBS logo printed from the CDROM,
on each buckle. If you desire to add shoulder harness straps, cut a
small slit in each side of the pillowcase at the top of the chair.
Attach the strap to the chair with tape and thread the strap through the
slit and glue to the inside of the sardine can. *Note- If children are
sitting in the chairs for photos or such, the sardine can has sharp
edges and not safe for kids. Cut a small square of foam board to be the
buckles. Wrap each buckle with aluminum foil or aluminum tape. Hot
glue a magnet to each square and attach to the straps. When a child
sits in the chair, they can put their seatbelt on and it will hold
together. If the child gets up before opening the seat belt, it should
pull apart without tearing apart your decorations.<img alt="" class="aligncenter wp-image-1659" height="177" src="http://mrmarksclassroom.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/10/files/2013/01/CA-41-150x150.jpg" title="CA 4" width="220" /><br />
<strong>Track-</strong> This scene can be created in a classroom with
one focal wall. Secure the scene setter panels on the focal wall.
Place the track along the floor in front of the panels and possibly up
the wall to the ceiling like the track comes from that direction. The
same can be true with the other end giving the suggestion the track runs
through the classroom. Create a roller coaster track using the silver
water tank wrap. Roll out the length of track you will lay on the floor
and up the wall on each side. Make a rectangle template from poster
board. Place this on the silver wrap material and draw around the
template with a permanent marker. Continue moving down the track with
the template until you have drawn all the rectangles to be cut out. Use
a sharp craft knife and cut along the lines to remove the rectangles
and reveal your track. Attach black pipe insulation on each side of the
track. *Note- It might be easier to add the pipe insulation after it is
attached to the walls and set in place.<br />
<strong>Deck</strong>- Attendees must wait their turn to ride the
roller coaster and many times that is on a wooden deck. Make a deck
using a tan king size sheet and roughly draw lines with a wide point
black or brown permanent marker every two to four inches on the sheet to
suggest boards. Go back and draw lines across to suggest the ends of
the boards. These lines should be staggered and not straight across
(plaid pattern). Seams on wooden floors are always off set from other
seams. Draw two circles or dots on both sides of the seams to be nail
prints. You may add as much detail as you want. This particular
decoration stores flat and can be used in most decorations each year.
*Note- Preparing a king size sheet will give you options when setting up
the room. If the room does not have enough space you can simply fold
it under to make it whatever size you need. You can make it smaller but
if you prepare a smaller sheet, you cannot stretch it larger. Add
other signs like “You must be this tall to ride”, “Loose objects must be
placed in the basket during ride”, “No Cry Babies Allowed”, and “No
guts, No GLORY!”Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-621026396376565347.post-11205153497682470232013-04-23T13:49:00.000-04:002013-04-25T11:47:51.253-04:00Other decorating Ideas: Remember to double your accomplishments with half the work- by incorporating decorating ideas into the bible lessons, or centers. <br />

If
you look at the Bible story titles for children in LifeWay’s VBS 2013
Colossal Coaster World, you will see “Paul Obeyed,” “Paul Spoke Boldly,”
“Paul Proclaimed Salvation,” “Paul Responded Wisely,” and “Paul Trusted
God.”<br />
<br />
So after reading these titles, I bet you’re thinking that we must
be studying the life of Paul for VBS 2013. And, we are. However, we
wanted to be sure it was very obvious to everyone that <b><span style="color: red;"> </span></b><br />
<br />
<b><span style="color: red;">Paul wouldn’t
have done any of the things he did in his life without that divine
encounter on the road to Damascus and the personal relationship he had
with Jesus</span></b>.<br />
<br />
For this reason, you will find a “Christ Connection” each
day in the children’s Bible Study Leader Guides to point out how each
day’s lesson really points to Jesus.<br />
<br />
For example, in Day 1′s story “Paul
Obeyed,” the “Christ Connection” is: “Before Paul’s conversion, he was a
person who captured believers in Jesus and took them to jail. After his
conversion, he began to preach the gospel wherever he went. God had a
plan for Paul’s life to carry His Son’s name to people who had not heard
about Jesus and the sacrifice He made for their lives.”<br />
<br />
The daily “Christ Connection” can help you reinforce with your VBS
kids that the entire Bible shows us that God had a plan for His Son to
be our Redeemer from the beginning. Jesus took the punishment for our
sins and Paul was used by God to reach people all over the world to
proclaim that Jesus is God’s plan for salvation.<br />
<br />
Paul’s transformation and his willingness to spend his life spreading
the gospel is testimony that everything we do really does “all comes
back to Jesus.”<br />
<br />
That statement may have been the official tagline for
VBS 2009, but it is true in what we do in VBS every year. Be sure you
make note of “The Christ Connection” in VBS and in your personal
relationship with Him each day.<br />

</div>
These are just a few ideas from the VBS training event. However- remember that the point of decorating is to "Catch" the kids attention and draw them into learning about Facing Fear and trusting God. The best decorations are the ones that serve as decorations, but also as props for lessons and ideas. There will be more ideas on this to come. If your decorations also go along with your Bible lessons, then you doubled the use with half the work and prepared for teaching the Bible as you made the room inviting and fun.<br />
